Nursing isn't a career; it's a calling. Learning how to be a great nurse at the bedside while maintaining your sanity at home is no easy task. This book talks about how to realistically live as a nurse, both at home and at the bedside.. with a little humor and some shenanigans along the way. Get ready guys, it’s about to get real, real nursey.

Excellent , the author gives you great advice from the start of nursing school all the way to her experiences as an ICU nuero-nurse. I am about to start my first job as an RN (recently graduated) and I am glad I read this book. Highly recommend:))

I recently retired after almost 40 years. Many of those years in ER. I loved it, I hated it, I recommend it highly. You must have it in your heart or you will be miserable. It's not any easy job. It's not a fun job. I feel this book holds great advice. I always said nurses eat their young. For many that's true. There's good basic advice here. Enjoyed it, recommend it. It's good worthwhile, rewarding work. Thank you.

What a wonderful book! I passed my NCLEX last week and starting my new job as an RN on a short term rehabilitation unit next week. My anxiety brought me to her blog and then I found her book. I'm so glad I found it and would recommend this book to anyone!

  • For the new ones!

Ok this book would get five stars if I was still in my first 6 months! But none the less it has great tips for anyone. I plan to suggest it to everyone I orient. I do love the advice for time management; although not every facility has computers in every room or even enough COWS for the nurses so charting at bedside is impossible for some of us πŸ˜₯. I've only been a nurse for 2.5 years but everything is spot on!
  • A beautifully written book!

Kati, Thank you so much for writing this book! I have related to it in so many ways. I'm about to get off of orientation this week at my first new nursey job right out of school. I work as a medsurg/tele float RN, and I was trained on 6 floors and next week I will begin my floating journey without my preceptors. After reading your book, I am more confident knowing that you have gone through many of the things that I thought I was alone on. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me. I have learned so much from you and your book and I can't wait to apply some of your nursey tips to my own practice. I have read other books about your first year as a nurse, but none have really set in as much as your book has, so thank you!! I enjoyed it thoroughly and felt as though I was there with you. Keep up the great work!!
